Against Dispensationalism and Covenant Theology The preacher argued for the following ideas based on his ongoing study of Romans 4:
Contrary to some dispensationalists, the Bible teaches the unity of people of God.
Contrary to presbyterian covenant theology, circumcision was for Abraham's physical seed, whereas baptism is now for New Covenant spiritual believers. (He didn't acknowledge the existence of Baptist covenant theology.)
Barkman concludes by advocating that we let the New Testament interpret the Old Testament, which is contrary to the teaching and approach of Dispensationalism.
He also briefly exhorts us to listen to voices from the past, but said he did not want to discuss that in any detail.
Great Sermon! Amen and thank you. This has been a matter of concern to me for years. Like you I can not find this in my Bible. In my studies there came rooms of inquiry, seats of inquiry, and then altar calls. Also in OT there was to be no altar cut by man's hands. Thank you, I feel like I stand on stronger ground now.
There is a straight appeal in the bible. Look: Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
(2Co.5:20)
Great Sermon! Thank you for one of the very best explanation for forgiveness and restoration. It was explained in a short, simple, and easy to understand manner of teaching. I am so thankful! God bless you, Brother Barkman. I listened twice to this sermon.
Great Sermon! Thank you! This really answered some serious questions on the subject of forgiveness of sins and the blessings of restoration to fellowship with God, questions I've been trying to get the correct understanding of for awhile. God's abundant blessings to you Brother Barkman for your easy to understand sermon.
No, the context Paul was speaking referred to days of fasting, NOT any other interpretation that most preachers teach about observing pagan holidays or the idolatrous birthday. Context, context, context
Great Sermon! Important sermon which links an enigmatic promise made by Jesus to Nathaniel and recorded in the gospel of John with an intriguing event in the life of Jacob recorded in Genesis. More evidence that the NT is the continuation and fulfillment of revelation begun in the OT.
Great Sermon! really enjoying these sermons, Pastor Greg. and just having listened to this one now, found it very good indeed, a blessing, as you were able to give so much information.
My husband was enquiring that if you are voting, it must be a most difficult decision, and trust the Lord to guide you.
Our nation is in much disarray due to the majority desiring to vote out of the E.U.
We are living in such perilous times.
I thank God for your ministry, for it is clear and edifying, and I listen in every night to the broadcasts. Christian love, English Rose
Great Sermon! Thank you Pastor Greg. I listened to this sermon twice, as it was such a great help to me particularly, being ill and disabled for so many years. In my early days as a christian, I was treated badly by the church we were in, as I had to use a wheelchair. Now, of course, having grown in grace, and accepting that God has allowed all these things for my good and His glory, it is somewhat easier to bear. We also have family problems as none of our children are christians.
You explain things so clearly, and are a special blessing. Love in Christ, ER
Great Sermon! Thank you so much for this clear teaching, Pastor Greg. Much blessing from it. Hope to hear more next week, God willing.
I did hear from David Cassels eventually, and he is now also receiving the Philpot devotionals I send out every day.
How is Sue Vestal please? She did kindly write to me once, but not heard since, and also send her the Philpot devotionals.
God richly bless you and strengthen you in the Ministry. Christian love from English Rose and George
Great Sermon! Thank you so much, Pastor Greg. Your teaching is such a blessing to us, being unable to get to a church in the truth, and also being isolated due to my illness.
I am pleased to report that my husband (carer) is now also hooked onto your teaching.
Thank the Lord for your teaching ministry.
Love in Christ, English Rose
Great Sermon! Pastor Greg.. I am so blessed by these short bible studies every evening. Thank you so much and for all those who make It possible, l really appreciate being able to listen in.
Great Sermon! I have taken special note that pastor Greg stated that there are no extra
Biblical revelations today as the Bible is complete. Please help me then, as I bellieve God can and does communicate in our thoughts. Over 40 years as a christian, I have known it. Love in Christ English Rose
Great Sermon! We should apply this teaching in all of our teachings especially From Matthew to Revelation, Especially in Rom 9-11 Who is Israel? All of Israel, Jew and Gentile the spiritual descendants of Abraham.
