“ Great Sermon! ”
I totally agree about letting the world in. We are supposed to be a peculiar people. Friendship with the world is enmity with God. For those defending loudness, rock music, etc. I have this to say. When I was young, music in church was us, the congregation, singing praises to God, or singing the Psalms. It was worship. It was never a concert. Now it's a worship band performing. The congregation usually isn't singing. It's not worship, it's entertainment. Also, when choirs sang, they sang together. When I see worship leaders and their band perform, they are facing the audience not the altar. They are performing for the people. That's the difference. It also seems to produce a lot of pride. If you criticize volume, song choice, anything, you get usually the same reaction as if you criticized a rock star. To them it's a performance, and they aren't humble. Their pride is in their performance. The fact that its God's house, and it's for His glory, not theirs is forgotten. God doesn't have hit singles, or platinum albums

Jim Lincoln stated "Rome has denied the sufficiency and efficacy of Christ’s shed blood to expiate sin by adding a religious system of sacraments, purgatory, indulgences, and the bloodless sacrifice of the Mass." I believe Christians are just as guilty adding or detracting from the Word of God by acknowledging Christmas, Easter SUNRISE services, New Year's Watch Night services, birthdays (the child should honor the parents), etc. We have sinned and are still sinning. We don't really believe God. We just keep praying to be delivered from our afflictions; which are mounting.

My what a blessing to hear the truth as to why the professing church has failed, but not the true Church of the living God, the gates of hell will never prevail against it.

It's very refreshing to hear a preacher who says it as it is. I was comforted / challenged and so blessed. Biblical Christianity still alive and kicking. You are right - we don't need numbers, we don't need Egypt - we just need God. And no matter what - WE WILL SURVIVE.

“ Powerful ”
This is one of the most convicting and powerful sermons I have ever heard oh that there were more Alan Cairns in the church

“ Great Sermon! ”
I am in a church that the pastor was old and gave up fighting the continual pressures to let the world in, but wasn't quite retirement age so he hung on 5 years longer than he should have. Our pulpit committee worked hard to find someone who would remain strong in keeping the world out. Inspite of their best efforts, the man they hired told them what he knew they wanted to hear. Its been all down hill from there, including letting unsaved public school students do a Christmas concert for one of our church services. I have been on the internet trying to find someone with some preaching that has some meat to it. My dad who is a died in the wool fundamental independent baptist recommended Dr Cairns as his favorite preacher to listen to."He gets it right everytime". This was my first message, and it won't be the last. Finally, a good message. What I mean by that is it caused me to stop and think about where I am in my relationship to Christ.

“ Powerful. ”
A threat; a glorious provision; the error; a blessed assurance. Clear biblical teaching, but not only general principles, but many particular application and illustration of the church using carnal methods in trying to do the work of the Lord.

“ Great Sermon! ”
Timely message---and Dr. Cairns, as is his usual manner, is EXACTLY ON TARGET. While not all CCM is bad, most of it employs the idea that you can use anything at all if it means one more person comes to salvation in Jesus Christ. I have yet to find in Scripture where music is supposed to be an evangellistic tool, and most CCM glorifies man, not the HOLY GOD OF SCRIPTURE. The Scripture is clear: Salvation is of God, and we as believers are to use the means that have been ordained of God, not integrating the world's twist to it. It is God's business to draw sinners, and He chooses to use us. He is not obligated to use anyone. Let's get on God's team, not expecting God to get on our team.

“ Great Sermon! ”
Super great sermon. I have been attending a church that uses rock music, but I have not liked it and have felt uneasy. I have gone because my wife likes the church. Thankfully, she is a good Christian woman and this sermon will provide the "umph" to get us out of that church and into a good, gospel preaching church.

“ Praise the Lord! ”
God's ways don't need help! What a refreshing and needed message for today. It's not enough to do some kind of ministry. We have to do it God's way. Good explanation and application.

“ Great Sermon but! ”
This is an excellent sermon on trusting God but I'm not sure that I get the bit about using modern Christian rock music to engage the culture being wrong. Paul said he became as one under the law in order to reach those under the law. Lets not mix up the issue of trust in God to include the type of Christian music one listens to or plays in their church. Yes sadly today we do all too often place our trust in things other than God and His provision and this is an excellent sermon on that point.

“ Wow! ”
Praise God there are men like Dr. Cairns who are willing to take a stand for the truth of God's word. This is one of the best sermons I've ever heard on methods used for God's work. It's a message desperately needed in churches of today!!!

“ Great Sermon! ”
A simple, yet profound biblical principle. The fact that most of the American church today would scoff at this message speaks volumes.

Adam S, I weep for you. You need to listen to this sermon at least once a day until you actually hear what Dr. Cairns is saying!!! Drop the defensiveness, and drop to your knees and repent! Get your eyes back on Christ, find a church that will feed you the law and the gospel, not entertain you.

“ Good preaching, halfway there! ”
This is well worth listening too, just sad that Mr Cairns falls short of separation as taught by scripture and applies it only to the church gathering. Hopefully he will get to read 2 Tim 2 one day and get the full picture. Egypt is RUINED - come out of her and be separate, not only when you meet together. But his word as applied to christians meeting is very good.

Adam SContact via email (7/23/2002)
“ Listen with CAUTION ”
Be careful when generalizing "Rock music." It is not our place to say what level of distortion on the guitars, or how loud a vocalist can sing. This message is good in that we should be careful and not listen to any artist claiming to be Christian. But do not equate loudness with rebellion. To do such is sinful.

“ Excelent Sermon! ”
It really changed the way i used to look at music. Until now i though i know why the foundamentalist christians fight against the rock music in the churches but i didn't. i just realised how important is to keep the churche pure without the influence of world in it. after i listened this sermon,i preached in a litle vilage churche and my pastor told me: i am proud of you. This is your first real sermon. This sermon just changed me at all. Thank you and God bless you. I am very happy

“ Wake Up Christians! ”
A message to stir the heart of all born-again Christians. "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
