True faith is always tried, and tried by fire. It must be able to survive the fiery trial or it is not true saving faith. It is a mercy of God that it is this way, else we would all settle for a cheap imitation of faith, and not find out until the day of judgement that we were deceived. God in his mercy and wisdom prepares us for the great trial of our faith by many lessons and minor trials throughout our life. In Abraham's trial it appeared that God had revoked all his promises and threw out all that Abraham had hung his eternal hopes upon to this point in his life. But Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness. Will it be said of us that we believed God, no matter the circumstances?
