Wine, Swine, and Crime — All on his Father's Dime.
Are you His disciple? Do you see Jesus as better than all others and anything? Have you tossed it all out for Him?
This father raised them both. In all appearances, he was a good honest man who taught his sons the truth.
He was better than both sons gave him credit to be.
They both were slaves to themselves, their sins, and one's sins we manifested more clearly by his excess and fun, who lost it all and became a slave to a stranger who put him among the cursed hogs and dogs
It was the goodness and love of one, and the realization of one's own wayward ways, and how his father was better than he had given him credit for — that exposed his darkness and the darkness of the other brother.
Light exposes darkness and as long as the older brother had leverage over the hurt and harm of the younger brother he tolerated the less-than-adequate father he had. He did life his way because his way had not been threatened. But the light of the changed heart of the one exposed the real nature of the other brother — what was it? He thought he was better, did life better, deserved better, and demanded to be treated better than the rest of the scoundrels.
The older brother kept a record of wrong.
He had no love in or for the personal interest, involvement, and investment of what's mine — no joy in my father or his choices except when it made me look good.
Grudges continue to gouge and create a gap in relationships.
Who's better? What's better? Why is it better? Why is He better?
