Let's open up our Bibles to Luke 11. Luke 11:1. "It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him, 'Lord, teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples.'" I want us to notice some things that are very, very important here. I believe with all my heart it was a fearful thing to watch Jesus pray. That it was an awesome event. Higher than any other thing He did, because if you notice here, it says it happened "that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He had finished." No one dared touch that ark. When He was bowed on His knees, when He was calling out to His Father it was like no other thing anyone had ever seen on the face of the earth. And then it goes and it says, "One of His disciples said to Him, 'Lord, teach us to pray.'"

Great Sermon! Great message.....real content and teaching! Not just words to hype and pacify people.
We do not get away enough to be in God's presence to pray. We let distractions get in the way and consume our time.
So thankful to find this site!
Such a Blessing!

Great Sermon! This is a rare sermon. I have very recently been told about this preaching and I am informing all my godly friends. It is good to have strong meat at last and strong truth that isnt watered down.

Gospel Permeated Prayer Paul Washer's urging the brethren he addresses in this sermon to balance their love for Truth and sound doctrine with a holy time of seeking God's presence, power and blessing; early, daily; is infectious! The earnest, heartfelt pleading of brother Paul for God's people to seek GOD first, to rely and depent upon HIM is permeated with the love of Christ. If you only "hear" the teaching and familiar urging to pray and do not "receive" the love of Christ through this sermon, you have missed something. Jesus Christ is alive and He is calling His people to prayer!

Overview The title says it all, for the most part. Christians should pray. Knew that. Jesus lived a life of prayer. Knew that. I think all Christians know they should pray, that is not the problem. I think the problem is they dont meet God when they are there; they dont hear from him or receive answers. My guess is that is why Christians in America don't spend much time in prayer.
Pastor Washer also mentions Christ's total dependence on the Father. This also is a model for us, but once again, most Christians do not hear from God when they pray, so I dont know how this helps. You can pray all day and night but if you dont enter into God's presence or feel as though you have been with Him or heard from Him then it profits nothing.
I have immense respect for Pastor Washer, I just dont see this sermon as addressing the real need today. It seems just another sermon of 'Do this, do that'. Christians have already heard it. Aside from this it is excellant; if you are a new member of the body you may find it motivating.
