Great Sermon! Christ's death on the cross is indeed a mystery, a paradox, it's incomprehensible. Pastor Steve gave a good lesson here on a difficult event. Difficult because of the sheer magnitude of what's taking place! His use of 2 Cor. 5:21, to describe what was taking place in the darkness is perfect. Also, the comment he made on Christ's choice of words when He cried out to God are very insightsful. The comment that only Christ has suffered death while still alive is ture too. Finally, what was said, that no living man has ever felt the punishment for his sins, is certainly true. We have only known the goodness of God, even when lost, through God's common grace. It will only be in hell that men will finally be fully separated from God. It will be then that they will realize how good God was to them all their lives. Surely the weeping and gnashing of teeth is for the loss of that common grace.
