I. God controls time – 8 A. A fact that needs our attention. B. Time is not judged the same with God.
II. God's control of time involves patience – 9, 15 A. God is calculated concerning His promise. B. God is concerned & does not want us to perish. C. God wants us to repent – 9 - (why, we don't have much time). D. God regards His patience to be salvation - 15
III. God's control of time allows Him to have His day – 10 A. The day of the Lord will arrive unannounced, unexpected. B. What God's Day will look like.
IV. God's control of time should have an effect on us – 11-12 A. Since we know this will happen, what should be our conduct - 11 B. A reminder of what will happen - 12
V. God will fulfill His promise – 13
Closing Comments: 1. To truly be attentive to the fact that God has a plan that involves time (8-9). 2. His day is coming & no one can alter or stop this (10). 3. Looking for and accelerating the coming of the Day of the Lord (12) is what we are encouraged to do. 4. The Day of the Lord is coming – I Thess. 5:1-11. 5. God has a plan which involves time & it is only a matt er of time.
