Dr. Alexandrenko was born in 1922 in Bryansk, Soviet Russia, and was taught to be an atheist and a Communist in the Russian schools. When he graduated from high school in 1940, he was drafted into the military and enrolled in officer's school. He served as a First Lieutenant in the Russian Paratroop Corps and fought in North Caucasus and Ukraine. In the winter of 1943, he was captured by German soldiers and held in various prisoner of war camps until he was liberated by American forces in 1945.
Dr. Nick shares his testimony of finding two gospel tracts written in Russian while in a camp in postwar Germany, and how he came to put his trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. Dr. Nick went on to be ordained to the gospel ministry as a Baptist pastor and came to the United States, where he graduated from Louisiana College and New Orleans Baptist Seminary. He went on to earn both his Masters and Ph.D. from Tulane University in Latin and Greek and returned to teach at Louisiana College. Upon retirement he returned to Russia and taught at the Seminary of the Union of Evangelical Christians in Odessa.
