We continue through Paul's letter, in particular through the section which began in chapter six where he covers the doctrine of the ongoing work of salvation that God does in a person's life once they have been set free from the condemnation of the law, what we call "sanctification." This being ongoing work wherein, by the Spirit who dwells within us, sin is mortified and we are quickened unto righteousness more and more. This ongoing work is fight, it is a battle between what Paul calls the spiritual and the carnal, between good and evil, between the law of God and the law of sin. Who can deliver us, who shall give us victory, none but Christ our Lord.
