"Let not your hearts be troubled." These words of Jesus' come at both the beginning and the end of John 14. Such instruction may be easy to hear, but not so easy to heed. There seems to be much in our lives that causes us 'heart trouble'. However, Jesus does not simply tell us not to worry and leave it at that - he gives us good reason why our hearts need not be troubled. He has secured our eternal destiny, and between now and then, he promises to answer our prayers, and to dwell with us - Father, Son and Spirit until the day he will take us to his 'Father's house'. These are not just good 'reasons', but realities, bound up in, and as sure as, the loving relationship of the Father, Son and Spirit. There is no better reason or truth for our hearts not to be troubled. So, "let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in the Son."
