When Jesus commands the men to go out to the deep and cast their nets, Peter protests initially, but promptly obeys, knowing it is Christ that has commanded it. So today, when Christ commands "come unto me ye that labor", hearers of the Gospel must surrender to him. In this particular narrative, the immediate result is unexpected, and we next find Peter in deep humilty at Christ's feet. Christ bids him to fear not and goes on to personally promise to him that he will become a fisher of men, by way of the Gospel net. Even up to this day, heralds of the Gospel have been given by God to bring the good tidings to sinners. Indeed, every believer is called to be a "fisher of men" by word and deed in whatever context God's providence has placed them. How can one who claims to have found the pearl of great price not have a desire to bring others to Christ?
