“ Great Sermon! ”
Let GODs Word speak for itself, our Lord Jesus Christ was the passover lamb, 1 Cor 5v7, as such the passover lamb, was required to be observred for 4 days,Gen 12v3-28, this same time period is also observed in Abrahams offering of Issac,Gen 22v1-24, God told Abraham to sacrifice Issac and the next day they left and took 3 days to get to the alter making 4 days. Jesus rode into Jerusalem on Palm sunday 10th nissan, and 4 Days brings you to Wednesday 14th nissan, thus fulfilling GOD's law, Jesus was buried Wednesday afternoon just before sunset, Jesus was in the tomb for 3 days and 3 nights (72hrs), in Jewish law a person was not declared officially dead until after 72hrs,read the account of Lazarus,John 11v1-46,Jesus has just stated that He is the ressurection and the life, now he proves this FACT. Jesus arrival was perfectly timed on the 4th day when it was in their belief that ressurection was impossble. So it was with the ressurection of Jesus as He arose sometime after 6pm Saturday, being the first day of the week and after 72hrs!. Could anything be any clearer, Jesus is who he claimed to be and the Word of God is in harmony. He has risen INDEED, for our Justification, AMEN

After extensive study on the dating of Jesus death we find a little confusion in the Gospels. Here is how it works out. The Jewish day begins at 6:00 PM the previous day. So if we are saying a Jewish Friday then it begins at 6:00 PM Thursday. Passover (Nisan 14) of the year of Jesus death was a Thursday, therefore it started at 6:00 PM Wednesday. Jesus had to be removed from the cross before Passover began. The last supper was actually at the beginning of preparation day, after 6:00PM Tuesday. Jesus stated that He wanted to have Passover meal with the disciples, not that He did. He was the Passover Lamb. Next Passover is a high Holy day, as well as the first day of the week of unleavened bread that begins the next day, Friday, and is considered a Sabbath day. Saturday, of course is always a Sabbath day. Jesus resurrected sometime after 6:00PM Saturday, which would be Sunday. That is three nights and three days. I pray this helps any confusion. However as Dr. Cairns says, what is really important is that His blood washed away our sins so that we may stand before God.

I am glad to know that Dr. Cairns is honest with the scriptures and will not accept the Catholic teaching about the death of Christ. He is correct is his position. Christ kept the Jewish Passover on Tuesday night, (Nisan 14) was crucified on Wednesday and came forth from the grave some time after 6pm on Saturday, which was the beginning of the new week, according to Jewish time.

“ Closely studied subject! ”
This is so amazing that Dr. Alan Cairns has closely studied this and believes that according to the scriptures Christ died late on a Wednesday. I am not sure if Dr. Cairns has done any deeper sermons on this but I am going to have a go.
