We're happy to announce that SermonAudio officially has support for the Amazon Echo family of devices, including, the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show, Echo Spot, Echo Plus, and more. It is available immediately.
The Echo is an inexpensive, voice-controlled smart speaker developed by Amazon.com. The device consists of a speaker with a seven-piece microphone array and is capable of connecting to Internet services via WIFI. It can be purchased for as little as under $50. It is controlled with one’s voice and can respond to a variety of commands.
The Echo Spot and Echo Show sport a screen that can show the currently-playing sermon title and speaker photo. It's an attractive way to enjoy listening to your favorite sermons or live webcasts!
Here's how it works.
Once you add our SermonAudio Skill to your Echo device, you can perform a variety of functions simply with voice commands.
Voice commands supported by the SermonAudio Skill:
"Alexa, Open SermonAudio!" - begins playing the 24/7 radio stream
"Alexa, ask SermonAudio to...
... play the featured sermon." ... play the newest staff pick." ... play the latest PowerClip." ... what's MyChuch?" ... set MyChurch to ..." ... set MyChurch to Code ID 12345." ... play the webcast from MyChurch." ... play the newest sermon from MyChurch." ... play the webcast from Code ID 12345."
"Alexa, stop."
How to setup MyChurch using a name or a code.
Setting MyChurch can be set by the actual church name, the minister's name, the city name, or any combination thereof. However, the most reliable way to set MyChurch is to use the 5-digit CHURCH CODE ID that's assigned to every broadcaster (found on the church's homepage). Here are some examples:
"Alexa, ask SermonAudio to...
... set MyChurch to Hampton Park Baptist Church." ... set MyChurch to Hampton Park, Greenville." ... set MyChurch to Drew Conley." ... set MyChurch to HPBC." ... set MyChurch to CODE ID 03966." ... set MyChurch to CODE # 03966."
"Alexa, stop."
The webcasts and sermons from every broadcaster on SermonAudio is immediately accessible using this exciting new technology for free! It's an innovative new platform that can be utilized to transmit great preaching and teaching.
Enjoy!
